Hiko Iizuka, born in Saitama/Japan near Tokyo ,grew up in a family of musicians. His father, who was trading with music instruments and owned a workshop, played the piano and violin, his mother Koto and Shamisen(traditional japanese instruments), his brothers drums, saxophone and flute (Jazz), his sister piano and guitar. Iizuka was trained early in repairing instruments and setting the piano. First recorder-lessons at the age of 4, piano-lessons with 6 years, than flute studies at the age of 14.
Since 1979 Hiko Iizuka is living in Berlin.
Studies at the HdK /Berlin with Andreas Blau. University degree “very good.”
Fellowship of the Orchestra Academy of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra (Karajan Academy) with Andreas Blau from 1984 to 1986.
Since 1983 regular meetings with Helmut Hammig in Pankow,then a district in the former east of Berlin, to extend his skills in flute repairing.
Hiko Iizuka’s workshop has been registered at the Chamber of Crafts Berlin since 1987.
He is one of the founders of the “ 14 Berliner Flötisten (14 Berlin flutes) “.
